The relationships between evaporation and certain physical parameters of circular pans and rectangular troughs are compared. These relationships have a direct influence on the economics of artificial water provision, both in terms of finances and groundwater resources utilized in providing drinking water. Rectangular troughs are more economical than circular pans.
