A subjective survey of the vegetation of the National Bontebok Park, Swellendam, was made. Thirteen communities were recognised and divided into three groups: Communities belonging to the Tree-group occur mainly along the banks of the Bree River; the communities of the Leucadendron-group on the hills surrounding the park, while the Renosterbush-group is confined to the flats and lower slopes of the hills. Veld management for this type of vegetation is briefly discussed and suggestions for management to improve grazing are made.
